Top Tips for Healthier Screen Time

Smartphones can be great for learning, but they shouldn't replace time with adults.  Passive screen time or caregivers being distracted by their phone, means less time for vital back and forth interactions.  These are so important for children's brain development and social skills.  This video "How every child can thrive by five" explains the vital role caregivers play.  Who knew that a game of peek-a-boo could change the world!

Purposeful screen time with an adult can be both educational and fun.  However, young children learn best through exploring their surroundings and having real-life experiences.  Activities like playing outside, reading books together, and hands-on learning are invaluable for their development.

The World Health Organisation recommends no screen time for children between birth and 2 years old, and no more than 30 minutes a day for 2–5-year-olds.  See the attached leaflet to find out more.
